Joanne Kee has over 30 years industry experience as a Producer, Artistic Director and GM in Australia and internationally she is committed to building capacity in an equitable and inclusive manner and is currently delivering a platform for theatre-makers to challenge and inspire audiences with innovative and transformational work.
Based in Western Sydney Joanne is the Executive Producer of Ruverside Theatres, National Theatre of Parramatta (NTofP). Riverside is an iconic venue which has been presenting work for over 30 years. NTofP, launched at the end of 2015 has quickly been making a name for the quality of its work and its fresh new approach to inclusivity and diversity within the performing arts sector.
Through NTofP, work made in Western Sydney is hitting the stages of the Sydney Opera House, Arts Centre Melbourne, regional NSW Belvoir Street mainstage and more. Partnerships are underway with Sydney Theatre Company, Sydney Festuval and also have commenced with international artists and venues. NTofP’s worl draws inspirration from the rich diversity of Western Sydney and beyond to resonate with and reflect contemporary society.
Formerly Joanne was the Artsitic Director of Sydney Improvised Music Association wher she founded the Berry Jazz Festival and Sydney International Women’s Jazz Festival. Other organisations include The Song Company, Sydney Opera House, Carnivale multicultural festival, Jazzgroove, Editor of Jazz Australia ad Director of places and spaces. Whilst running her own company, places + spaces, she toured shows around the world, ran the national touring program, Sound Travellers and set up creative development opportunities and performance series for independent artists on Cockatoo Island and in the Rocks.
Joanne is currently member of the Create NSW Theatre panel and was formerly Chair of Ausdance NSW, whilst in this role she was instrumental in setting up Critical Path, choreographic space and was a board member of Sydney Fringe Festival and Music Australia.
