Director and Programme Manager at Grimmwelt
Born 1967 in Belp (Switzerland), Peter Stohler studied art history and film in Amsterdam, London and Zurich, followed by further education in cultural management. As representative for cultural affairs in Basel (2007–2013) he was responsible for promoting visual arts, film, video, photography and music. Prior to this, Stohler was curator and museum director in Geneva, Zurich and Altdorf and from 2013 to 2018 he managed the Kunst(Zeug)Haus Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland. He has also written and published several books on art, photography and contemporary design, e.g. From Anselm to Zilla. The Peter and Elisabeth Bosshard Collection (Lars Müller Publishers, Zurich 2017) and Storytelling (modo, Freiburg i.Br., 2020). Since 2019, he has been director and head of programmes of Grimmwelt Kassel.
