Building Data: Revealing Intangible Experiential Insights

Project Manager, Arup

Abstract:

As cultural institutions seek new ways to connect with audiences, understanding the lived experience within their spaces becomes crucial. In this session, Ottilie Thornhill shares findings from Arup’s pilot with cultural partners in London, where data generated by buildings is harnessed to reveal patterns that often go unnoticed—emotions, energy flow, and behavioural responses.

Ottilie explores how digital twin technology can help institutions capture these invisible dynamics, creating opportunities for more intentional design, sustainable practices, and meaningful engagement across a wide range of cultural contexts.
