My mission is to transform lives through increasing access to performing arts education and experiences.
I was born and raised in the Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA. Music and theatre have played a pivotal role in my life. This passion has shaped my professional career and my mission to increase accessibility to the performing arts to create impact.
During my senior year of my bachelors degree, I signed up for an arts administration class. That one class and the professor who taught it sparked a new interest and completely changed the trajectory of my life. Excited to learn more, I pursued a masters in arts management. I was accepted into the Master's of Management in International Arts Management (MMIAM) program, where I spent a year traveling the world while learning. From the United States to Canada, Colombia, India, and Italy, I witnessed the importance of the arts in cultural sustainability and community well being. Upon my return to Minnesota, I became eager to better my home community through the arts.
After three years in the professional world, I became interested in how to grow my career. I was curious about best practices and identifying what skills I was missing or needed to improve. A few of my friends from the MMIAM program had completed the 30UNDER30 program and had found it insightful. I have found this program to be extremely beneficial in teaching things that cannot be learned in a classroom. At the beginning of the program, I didn’t know what I had to improve or what was missing from my professional life. My mentor, Jacquelin Low, patiently helped me identify what questions I had and achievable action items for our sessions. The master classes inspired ideas for what to work on with my mentor. I now feel more prepared to identify and evaluate future opportunities and take the next step in my career.
My desire is to continue working in theatre and music. I hope that through building genuine relationships and strong communication, I can increase accessibility to the performing arts in my community. Success will look like taking down barriers to education and other programming with the goal of developing future arts lovers. I am motivated by the hope that other people will be positively impacted by music and theatre the way I have been.
