From Within: Equipping Cultural Institutions for Effective Participatory Practices
Facilitator & Consultant in Participatory Strategies
Abstract:
How can cultural institutions create meaningful participatory experiences? In this hands-on workshop, Alexia J. Casanova introduces three assessment and ideation tools designed to help arts professionals evaluate whether their institution is genuinely prepared to launch a participatory initiative.
Focusing on internal dynamics—such as human, financial, and temporal resources—this session guides participants through practical exercises to align their teams and programming goals. The aim is to foster participation that is realistic, sustainable, and rooted in institutional readiness. Through interactive discussions and case-based tools, participants will leave with a clearer roadmap for initiating or improving participatory projects within their own context.
