Josiane Zhang

Josiane Zhang is a Ph.D. researcher in Management at the Cartier-ESCP-HEC Paris research chair and a project manager at the Gen Z Observatory.

Prior, she graduated with a Master’s in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Bachelor’s in Political Science from Sciences Po Paris and City University of London.

She has previously worked as a Policy Analyst with international experience in both academic (Sciences Po—CSO, Columbia University—Mailman School of Public Health) and industry-led research (UNICEF, War Child, World Vision) as well as in French public policy (Mayor Rachida Dati’s Office).

Passionate about the cultural and creative industries, Josiane has extensively written on the art market, namely on “The Role of Modernism in the Evolution of the Art Market” (awarded Best Dissertation Award at City University of London) and on “The Artificial Divide in the Art Market” (published by the Clare Market Review).

Her continuous education includes certifications in Entrepreneurship in Cultural and Creative Industries in the Digital Age (Sciences Po Paris), Arts and Heritage Management (Bocconi University) and Interactive Strategies for Engaging with Art (MoMA).

From growing up across the French, British, Shanghainese and Taiwanese cultures, Josiane has come to truly believe in the power of building bridges.

Our generation is under more pressure than ever to build these cultural links and the arts remain one of the strongest tools to translate aesthetics, colour the monotone and voice out humankind — let them speak up!
